FAST EASY DIY DECK STEPS

Now that you have finished your decking, it’s time to build the steps. So if you have a long run of steps and want to use a square to figure out the rise and run skip down to the bottom of the page for detailed instructions and a video link to my favorite carpenter.

If however, you just want to build your steps FAST and EASY then you’re in the right place!

FAST AND EASY DIY STEPS

Using a tape measure get the distance from the top of the deck to the ground at the extended angle, then add a couple of feet for good measure. To make the steps stout, 3 runners are good 4 runners are better. At your local lumber yard pull out the length you need of 2″x12″ (plus the 2′ extra) and the number of runners you will be need. Then lay a precut 4 step runner on top of one of your long uncut runners and simply trace out the pattern, repeating until you get to the end. This will now give you the pattern to cut all of your runners. Cut the first runner and locate where you need to cut off the steps, then finish cutting the rest of them.

Now you have a FAST and EAST DIY set steps for your deck.
